Imaging to assess. Precision to care.

Guided by imaging.
Focused on you.

My focus is ultrasound-guided procedures: drainage of seromas, abscesses and hematomas, including collections around breast implants and after plastic surgery; guided hyaluronidase; and thyroid, breast and soft-tissue biopsies. I also provide ultrasound assessment of lipedema.

The focus of my practice

Guided by imaging.
Centered on care.

Image-guided drainage, aspiration and biopsies, with individualized planning. I see patients in Ipanema and can also travel to the referring physician’s office, following assessment and prior arrangement.

Postoperative complications

Seromas, hematomas, abscesses and other collections

Image-guided drainage of seromas, abscesses and hematomas following plastic surgery, including collections around breast implants. The indication and setting depend on individual assessment.

  • Seromas and other postoperative collections
  • Abscesses and hematomas, when indicated
  • Collections around breast implants
  • Collaboration with the treating surgeon

Outpatient procedures

Thyroid, breast and soft-tissue biopsies

Thyroid FNA and breast or general soft-tissue aspiration and biopsies, following indication and assessment. I do not perform prostate biopsies.

Ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase

Dissolving hyaluronic acid fillers with ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase, one of my most frequently performed procedures. Filler mapping, assessment and individualized planning.

Guided implant and material removal

Localization and image-guided removal of hormone implants and other soft-tissue materials, following indication and individual assessment.

Procedures in a surgical setting

Deep procedures in a surgical setting

Liver drainage, drainage of cysts and deep collections, and organ biopsies are assessed individually and scheduled in an appropriate surgical setting.

Care may take place at the Ipanema office or, following assessment and prior arrangement, at the referring physician’s office. Deep procedures, liver drainage and organ biopsies are scheduled in a surgical setting after individual review of the indication, access route and resources required.

Procedures in focus

Complications and procedures:
understand each type of care.

Postoperative complications

Seromas and postoperative collections

A seroma is a fluid collection that may develop after surgery. Ultrasound helps assess its location, extent and characteristics to support care planning.

I assess seromas and other collections after plastic surgery, including collections around breast implants. I also assess abscesses and hematomas for guided drainage when indicated.

Not every seroma requires drainage. When indicated, ultrasound-guided aspiration allows the needle to be followed into the collection to remove fluid. The decision considers symptoms, volume and progression.

Fluid may build up again, so follow-up and communication with the surgeon are part of care.

Outpatient procedures

Thyroid aspiration and biopsy

Assessment of a thyroid nodule may include fine-needle aspiration (FNA), which collects cells for cytology. Ultrasound guides the needle to the selected nodule.

The indication depends on ultrasound features, size and the clinical context. Not every nodule needs aspiration.

The sampling technique and need for other approaches are determined individually. Results are interpreted alongside imaging and medical assessment.

Outpatient procedures

Breast biopsy and aspiration

When indicated, ultrasound-guided sampling obtains material from an abnormality visible on ultrasound for laboratory analysis.

Fine-needle aspiration can collect cells or fluid. Core needle biopsy removes small pieces of tissue for histopathological analysis. The choice depends on the finding and the diagnostic question.

A biopsy request does not confirm cancer. Results must be correlated with imaging findings and clinical assessment.

Other image-guided biopsies

I perform thyroid, breast and general soft-tissue aspiration and biopsies when indicated. I do not perform prostate biopsies. Organ biopsies and deep procedures, including liver drainage and drainage of cysts and deep collections, are assessed case by case and scheduled in an appropriate surgical setting.

Ultrasound examinations

Understanding comes first.

Ultrasound and Doppler assessment, together with procedure planning and follow-up.

01

General Ultrasound and Doppler

Examination of organs, superficial structures and blood vessels, according to the referral and clinical needs.

  • Abdomen and urinary tract
  • Thyroid, breast and soft tissues
  • Vascular Doppler
02

Planning and follow-up

Imaging assessment before, during and after procedures, based on each case’s clinical indication.

  • Mapping the area of interest
  • Planning image-guided approaches
  • Individualized follow-up
Interventional Radiology

Planning for
each level of complexity.

Interventional radiology uses imaging to guide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Each case is assessed to determine the indication, technique, access route and appropriate setting.

Liver drainage, drainage of cysts and deep collections, and organ biopsies require individualized planning and are scheduled in a surgical setting.

Available examinations and required resources are reviewed before scheduling. Performing the procedure depends on this assessment.

Ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase

Guided hyaluronidase.
Imaging at every step.

Dissolving hyaluronic acid fillers with ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase is one of the procedures I perform most often. Care includes filler mapping and planning the approach according to the indication and characteristics of each case.

  • Mapping and localization of hyaluronic acid fillers
  • Ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase, when indicated
  • Assessment of filler-related complications
  • Imaging-based planning and follow-up

Support for physicians and plastic surgeons

I work alongside physicians and plastic surgeons, providing ultrasound mapping and procedural guidance. In addition to seeing patients in Ipanema, I can travel to the referring physician’s office. The location, necessary facilities and availability are arranged in advance, according to the complexity of the case.

LIPEDEMA

Ultrasound assessment of lipedema

Ultrasound assesses the fat layer beneath the skin, documenting its thickness and characteristics. It complements clinical assessment of lipedema and supports individualized planning and follow-up.

The examination compares the assessed regions on both sides of the body, observing tissue distribution and any associated changes. Findings are interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history and physical examination.

Postoperative complications

Thickness and distribution

Subcutaneous tissue measurements at defined anatomical points, with comparison between both sides.

Outpatient procedures

Tissue appearance and nodules

Assessment of adipose tissue organization and nodular changes identified during the examination.

Outpatient procedures

Edema and further assessment

Assessment for edema and associated changes. Venous Doppler may complement the examination when indicated.

Outpatient procedures

Documentation and follow-up

Recording measurements and findings for comparison and to support care planning.

Patients from other regions and countries

Traveling to Rio
for medical care?

Planning begins before your trip. Reviewing the available information helps organize your visit and determine the next steps.

01

Tell us what you need

When making initial contact, mention your city or country and whether you need an examination, assessment or procedure.

02

Gather your records

Have medical referrals, reports and prior imaging available. Arrange how to share them through the care contact channel.

03

Plan your visit

Discuss the assessment, appointment availability and specific instructions before booking your trip.

The clinical indication, setting, length of stay and follow-up are determined individually. Initial contact does not confirm that a procedure will be performed.

Frequently asked questions

Before your appointment.

Do you work at other physicians’ offices?

Yes. In addition to care in Ipanema, I can travel to the referring physician’s office. The indication, required facilities, location and availability are assessed and arranged in advance.

Can every procedure be performed in the office?

No. The setting depends on complexity, clinical indication and the resources required. Some cases need an appropriate surgical environment.

Is a procedure decided on imaging alone?

The decision considers your clinical history, available examinations and medical assessment. The options and limitations are discussed individually.

Do examinations and procedures require preparation?

Preparation depends on the planned appointment. Confirm the specific instructions before attending.

Can I arrange care if I live in another city or country?

Yes. Get in touch before traveling to organize assessment and planning. A procedure is performed only when medically indicated.
